FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

Question 1: When I start a trial how much storage do I have?
a. Is this restricted?
b. And how do I convert from Trial to consumption?

You will have 5TB of storage available for the 30-Days trial, enforced by a hard storage quota. Apart from that, there is no other limitation for the trial account. If you are satisfied with your trial, you can contact our salesperson anytime to convert it into a paid account. That will remove the 5TB hard storage quota restriction and apply a soft quota to your account with a monthly consumption payment schedule.

Question 2: When do I get invoiced?

Once you are converted into a paid account, you will start to get invoice based on last month’s consumption by early next month.

Question 3: How to manage the trial S3 account?

Suggest using common S3 tools such as “S3 Browser” to do the management.
https://s3browser.com/

Please check the following link for how to work with the S3-Compatible Storage Account.
https://s3browser.com/s3-compatible-storage.aspx

Special Note: When you are using the “Virtual Hosted Style” Addressing model in the Advanced S3-compatible storage settings, and see an error message like “Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel” on the S3 Bowser versions later than 11.4.5. Please relax certificate validation in Tools > Options > Advanced > Bypass SSL/TLS validation (program restart required) and restart the S3 Browser.

Question 4: How to map the trial S3 account as a drive?

Suggest using TntDrive for mapping as a drive under Windows.
https://tntdrive.com/

How to Connect TntDrive to Amazon S3-Compatible Storages
https://tntdrive.com/amazon-s3-compatible-storage.aspx

Special Note: When you are using the “Virtual Hosted Style” Addressing model in the Advanced S3-compatible storage settings, and see an error message like “Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel” on the TntDrive versions later than 5.9.3. Please relax certificate validation in Tools > Options > Advanced > Bypass SSL/TLS validation (program restart required) and restart TnTDrive service in Tools > TnTDrive Service > Restart.

Question 5: How to set up the Arcserve Image Manager replication job to the trial S3 account?

1.            Set up your S3 account using the S3 Browser.

2.            Add new buckets for every end user you used Image Manger to replicate the backup image files to the other locations in the past. (For example: company-a, company-b and company-c, etc)

3.            Under Image Manager > Agent Settings > Locations > Add New S3 Compatible Storage (Use the Bucket Name you created for your end user, S3 Endpoint: s3-*.quantum-anz.online, Access Key and Secret Key you acquired for the trial s3 account)

4.            Back to Image Manager, for each managed folder, Create Job > Replication (Normally use the folder name as the subdirectory name)

5.            The Replication Job in Image Manager will start sending backup files to Quantumn-ANZ Secure Cloud.

Question 6: Does the Quantumn-ANZ Secure Cloud solution replication delete files as required? That is, when Image Manager consolidates, it deletes the ‘old’ consolidated files. Are these deleted in the Secure Cloud Storage also?

It is handled by Acrserve Image Manager. Quantum-ANZ Cloud is a S3 Compatible Storage target for replication jobs of Image Manager.  Please refer to Replicate Backup Images (arcserve.com)

·                     S3 Compatible Storage: Replicate to a user account using an S3 bucket.

·                     Note: S3 only sends -cd (daily) and -cm (monthly) files so you should not sync the Managed Folder with the S3 files. When a -cm file is replicated, the -cd files for that period can be removed. Retention always keeps the -cd files older than the most recent -cm file. When a new -cm file is replicated all -cd files older than the next most recent -cm file will be removed. This way it always retains at least one month of -cd files.

Question 7: The Secure Cloud Storage shows 151 files uploaded; however, the local store shows 177 images, which is 359 files.
Does the Secure Cloud Storage provide consolidation of the image files in the cloud?
If you do, what are the consolidation settings, and can they be adjusted?

Quantum ANZ Secure Cloud does not provide consolidation, Image Manager does the consolidation, and does the action of replicating or deleting according to the answer in the previous question.

Question 8: Am I correct in that this solution only manages the Shadow Protect backup files?
Therefore, recovering an individual file from C: Drive would require downloading all the C Drive images (SPF, SPI) first.

Yes. In the case you don’t have local backup image files, you need to download those necessary files first to recover by Shadow Protect.

Question 9: Is there a plan to implement MFA on this cloud solution?

The MFA feature is expected to be released by Quantum later this year. We believe that will improve the protection of the access to the S3 account. Stay tuned!
