Direct Attached Cables
Are a type of high-speed, twinax copper cable with fixed transceivers on both ends, designed to connect networking equipment such as switches, routers, and servers directly within short distances (typically up to 7–10 meters). They provide a cost-effective and low-power alternative to using separate optical transceivers and fiber optic cables, while still supporting high data rates such as 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE.
They are widely used in data centers, enterprise networks, and storage environments where short-reach, high-bandwidth, and low-latency connections are essential. DACs are also plug-and-play, making them simple to deploy without the need for additional optical modules.
